Lately it seems like tribute bands are popping up every where! Why all the rage and what could be the sudden interest? It doesn't even seem to matter the genre of music to spark an interest. Bands and musicians paying tribute to main stream, or once mainstream, artists do it because they have some kind of deep lying connection to the artist and or group. It could be that it's a group or artist they grew up listening to or emulating. It could be the music that transports them to a time when things were simpler and easier, fun and exciting. Whatever the reason, they are hotter than ever!
Some fans never even heard of the original band that the act is playing homage to! Okay, maybe they have 'heard' of them but weren't even born when the originals were rocking in their hay day. Once the music grabs you, there's not much you can do but be transported back in time, costumes and all. Today's tribute bands are awesome and some of them look more the part than the persons they are emulating.
There is a fabulous company out of Canada that books these wonderful bands covering artists from Elvis to Beyonce' and some are pretty incredible! The market is real open to it now as they are even booking these groups for corporate and actual celebrity events with asking prices in the thousands.
New music is wonderful, no doubt but favorite songs never die and with tribute bands, the original group lives on 'LIVE' forever in a sense. I myself am a part of one of these great bands named Masterjam in honor to Rufus & Chaka Khan and we are just getting started but I am looking forward to the timeless journey we are about to embark on. http://masterjam.us
