WoW Player vs Player
WoW Player vs Player

WoW Player vs Player, or PvP for short, is a built-in piece of World of Warcraft that you can see pretty much anywhere and any time, particularly on a PvP server. The task of killing a real live character is much harder than that of killing dumb computer fiends. World PvP, Arenas and Battlegrounds are the three primary types of PvP action in WoW. It takes practice, understanding and time to get good at WoW Player vs Player. Understanding each class and where it shines will get you top rankings in arenas and on the battlefield.

Battlegrounds for WoW Player vs Player

Battlegrounds are one form of PvP that allows groups from each side to compete each other. World of Warcraft battlegrounds are not merely wild team battles in an open field. Each one requires various strategies to succeed and each has its own collection of rules.

PvP Honor Points

Honor Points are now the primary currency for completing WoW Player vs Player quests. Your armor and weapons can be traded up when you've received enough Honor Points. Finishing battleground tasks will earn you Honor Points, as well as killing faction leaders, honorable kills and completing World Player vs Player objectives.

WoW Player vs Player Leveling

Patch 3.2 for WoW, gave gamers fast, new ways to level their characters. You could now kill two birds with one stone while fighting in WoW Player vs Player battlegrounds, since you were awarded experience along with WoW PvP honor points. Not every one of the battlegrounds are the same, and Alterac Valley has been chosen over the rest when it comes to winning experience while you are in your WoW PvP battles. Killing mobs and accomplishing WoW PvP goals, like capturing buildings, all award both experience and honor. Being victorious in Alterac Valley results in around 150,000 experience.

World PvP at its highest - Lake Wintergrasp

World PvP expanded to an entirely new level at the time the Northrend expansion came out and introduced characters to Wintergrasp. Halaa and the spirit towers, both contained in Outlands, are not at the same style of World PvP that is joined in the new Wintergrasp land in Northrend.

Since the objective of the attacking players is to destroy the walls of the defending team's fortress, Wintergrasp gives us breakable buildings along with the tools to do just that: Catapults, Demolishers and Siege Engines. Turrets and siege-breaking vehicles allow the defense to keep the offense off their barriers. Building offensive and protecting tools in your workshops can only happen a few at a time because these building places are limited. Players can only use these powerful weapons if they have a high enough score in the current conflict, which is scored by the amount you have given to your side's victory so far.

The attacking team only has 45 minutes to destroy the barriers of the defense's fortess. Once that that time is over, no further skirmishes are allowed to begin for two and half hours. Previous to the 4.01 Cataclysm patch, the Wintergrasp victorious side was awarded a damage buff and the right to get stone keeper shards from dungeon bosses during the cooldown window. The stone keeper shards are now replaced with Honor Points, but the damage buff is still the same. Awesome gear enhancements can be purchased with Honor points, the same way the pre-patch 4.01 PvP awards were able to.

Arena Skirmishes

Arena team contests are meant to be the peak WoW Player vs Player experience, and therefore there is a level 80 limit to join an Arena Team. Your team rating isn't enhanced by arena practice fights that you are permitted to join before reaching level 80 and you won't be awarded any arena points either. Despite your number of friends or just your personal desires, you can created either a two, 3 or five-man Arena team. Adapability or the ability to adapt quickly will serve you well in the Areans, since each one looks different and has fresh and more intriguing obstacles.

Every team is ranked by its Team Rating. The higher your rating, the better you're doing. Each teams' rating is used to set which teams aught to compete each other in the Arena. How close your enemy's Team Rating is to yours defines the amount your Team Rating increases or decreases at the end of a competition. Your team rating is significant because it decides what number of Arena Points you get each week. When you have collected enough Arena Points you may purchase WoW PvP specific gear.
