Garden Design and Structures

A few tips to help spruce your garden.1. Garden gatesChoosing the right gate for your garden is no simple task. It can be the difference of a grand entrance versus a squeaky, old thing that splinters and sticks. If you want your garden to be enchanting, then choose an enchanting gate. If your garden is simple go for a more basic design. And if your garden is just pretty then choose something to fit it, like a wrought iron gate with curved accents.2.Garden lightingLighting can add a lot of character to your garden. There are the more basic designs, such as rectangular, self-standing patio lights, and then there are more elaborate lighting designs. Lights can be hidden in massive snowballs, planters, and other kinds of sculptures.3. Garden ornamentsMany people overlook decorating their gardens with ornaments. They feel that plants and pathways are enough, and often they are. But sometimes, including a bird house, windmill, or fountain can add a lot of texture to a garden, and give it more of a complete look. Crystal helixs, and dancing dragonflies are popular choices.4. Sheds and summerhousesSheds are a great way to store seasonal tools and appliances. Some people choose to expand their sheds and convert them into full work studios. Log cabins can feel like a cosy and romantic getaway without having to go further then your backyard. Put in a little bed and a fireplace and snuggle up. They're also a great place to host guests. And of course there are children's playhouses. The best place for kids to escape and imagine make-believe worlds.5. Greenhouses and glass housesGreenhouses are structures with different kinds of covering materials, like glass or plastic. Being clear they allow in a lot of solar radiation which is why they heat up so quickly. This in turn, increases the amount of energy being given to the plants.6. Shade sailsShade sails are a popular and effective way to block out the sun whilst still maintaining a chic look for your garden. There are a variety of shade structure designs. Amongst the most common are: pagoda, star, solar, hypar and halo.7. Garden fencingFencing for the garden generally comes in panels and posts.-Panels: Panels need to be stepped to follow the contour of the ground. In other words they must remain level, they cannot slope. This can sometimes leave gaps between the spacing.-Posts: There are five different methods for erecting a garden fence post. They include, burying the bottom of the post into the ground; sitting the post into a socket and burying that into the ground; attaching the socket to a baseplate and bolting it to a flat surface, such as a concrete path; anchoring the socket to a block of concrete; and fixing the fence to a vertical wall.
