Lights, Camera, Action! And you step into another world. Talking animals, warring extra terrestrial aliens, wizards and witches or whatever else the endlessly creative writers and production houses have to offer immerses you into the experience. Right that moment when Harry Potter says "Expeliramus", you could have had the craziest week, but yet, your mind is relaxed and away the effects of those stresses. Entertainment can be therapeutic. Doing the things you love and stepping away from every day life for a little is almost vital in today's lifestyles. Movies can almost be a religious activity for some and there should be no guilt in paying the right kind of attention to it to make that experience fulfilling. And Home Theaters are THE way to do it. Movie halls are good, but creating a personal experience around movies has become possible today and offers what movie halls cannot offer your private space with the people you want to hang out with.
There are many ways of installing home theaters. There are endless articles and books about installation tips, the actual home theater devices, acoustic design, home theater furniture, and even home theater dcor. All these are important aspects of a home theater. But I am not going to repeat what other better experts have to offer. I am going to offer, instead, two ideas that not very many people have implemented. And that will set your home theater apart from everyone else's. And isn't that part of that elite experience.
Idea 1: Decorate your room with wallpaper or wall dcor to match a movie screening or video game.
So, for instance, if you are playing the New Super Mario Bros, apply the Super Mario Bros wall dcor! Nothing else will get you and your buddies in the mood to give Maria, Peach, Donkey Kong, Toad and their buddies a real whirl. Simlarly, almost all hit movies end up with a bunch of low cost wallpapers (cost less than $50 most of the time) and posters. Buy them ahead of a screening online and paste them. Total time 2 hrs. 1 hr to find an order and 1 hr to place them on the wall. I know it's time investment but it's also memories that neither you or your friends will forget in a long time.
Idea 2: Organize an "Interval" break with snacks and 70's style hawkers selling soda, beer and candy on cart.
Movies in India and several other parts of the world have a short interval when everyone takes a break and goes out to get something to eat. I know this might sound like a silly idea considering that it will take your mind off the actual movie. But if it's planned right and if your friends are warned that you have a break planned at some point, it can actually be fun. It's amazing how everyone starts talking about what they feel so far. You could go one step further and take bets for the suspense or movie end. It enhances the movie night experience if done right, and movies are about comraderie, relaxation and forming memories it does all those.
