How to Pick More Horse Racing Winners and Less Losers

Want an easy way to improve your horse racing handicapping? Maybe you're tired of picking as many or more losers than winners. You're not alone, every day, all over the world, many people realize that their problem isn't that they can't pick winners it is simply that they choose too many losers.

Looking at it another way, what I am saying is that if you just picked a few less losers, the good bets you make would earn you a profit. Instead of thinking that you are just a few winners away from being a successful horse player, maybe you should look at it the other way and realize that you're just a few losers away form success.

If you've been handicapping for a while, you probably know how to find enough winners. In fact, on almost any given day at almost any track, you probably find your share of good bets. You may even almost come out ahead, but a few bad wagers eat up all the profits. Instead of trying to learn something new, why not see what you learned a long time ago that is now costing you money.

During the course of a horse playing career, we all acquire habits and quirks that make our methods special. Some of those things become so ingrained and common to us we forget that there is even a different way of doing things or that some of what we know is wrong. Think about that for a moment. Some of what you know is wrong. That is what is costing you money.

Now here is how you figure out what is good and what is bad among all the things you've learned and figured out over the years. First of all, write a list. Start with the ten commandments. Write ten absolute truths that you know about horse racing and that you rely on to come up with your winners. Now, each day as you handicap the races, look at that list and write down any one of the ten that applies to a bet you make.

At the end of the week, total up your bets and see if any one of those truths you hold so dearly has been costing you money. It is amazing how the things we think are iron clad and fool proof, make fools of us all. If you notice that you used one of the ten and it was a loser, re think it. Either totally forget it, or turn it around. That's right, if it isn't true, then the opposite may be true. The only way to find out what you know that is really the truth is to test it.
