Custom build properties in Turkey; the new trend

Number of Turkey property buyers, who decide to purchase their own land in Turkey with a view to building their custom build properties in Turkey is on the increase, according to Turkish property experts, Place Overseas.

Cameron Deggin of Place Overseas, based in London, UK, advised the Turkey Property Board, that the main area attracting foreign buyers, who build their own homes in Turkey, is the stretch from port town of Gocek on the south west coast to the aspiring marina town of Kas. This region covers parts of Gocek, Fethiye, Kalkan, Patara area, Kas Peninsula and Bayindir near Kas. Mr. Deggin stated that the following are the main factors behind the trend

1. Potential buyers coming in search of very private areas without any mass development, which tends to be difficult to find in traditional holiday resorts such as Ovacik, Hisaronu, Calis and main-stream Kalkan.

2. Available designs not always catching the fancy of the more discerning buyer.

3. Restrictions placed by the government (rightly so) on seafront parcels, which mean planning is very difficult to obtain, certainly not for mass projects and developments

4. A significant move to Turkey amongst the boating and yachting community, who tend to prefer seafront locations with possibility of mooring.

Mr. Deggin added that although it is difficult to find such 'out of the way' plots with planning consent, it is not impossible. "There are still some hidden areas and historic planning consents around that the government can not revoke. The trick is finding these and building on them without spoiling the surrounding nature and opening the gates to many others to follow". "The idea is long term privacy", says Mr. Deggin.
