Are you like me?...
What I mean is are you the type of person who likes to know the "real" story?
Take getting a six pack for example. There's obviously a lot of information out there on the subject right? And I admit, much of it is sound - so long as you follow it.
Yet, there always seems to be a small portion of information that separates the successful from the unsuccessful in any endeavor...six pack abs included.
What is it exactly that these fitness "models" are doing to achieve the sculpted, sexy stomach we all crave. You know who I'm talking about. You've seen these people at the gym, on the beach, and in the magazines.
Are they really working that much harder than you? What subtle secrets do they possess that you and I would love to have?
Well, I may not have all the answers but in my research I've come up with some pretty shocking secrets I'm about to reveal to you. In fact, if you read the rest of this article, you'll learn two of the most basic, yet powerful secrets to slimming down your stomach and getting your ab muscles to start showing through.
Understand and apply these principles and your chances of getting washboard abs go WAY up. Fail to understand them, and you're destined to keep a spare tire around your stomach for life.
The first thing I've noticed when observing the behaviors of those with a chiseled six pack is they DON'T count calories.
What? I thought counting calories was a good thing?...
Well, technically it can be a good thing and if it's working for you keep it up. But there's an important caveat we need to understand.
Not all calories are created equal.
If you think about it this makes perfect sense. Take a McDonald's quarter pounder for example. This item contains a whopping 740 calories!
That just happens to be a quarter of my personal daily caloric intake. I haven't eaten one for awhile but I remember the last time I did it was delicious!
There's only one problem...
I was hungry an hour later. That's because the glycemic index of fast food is so high it doesn't make you feel "full" for very long - causing you to eat more of it and more often.
Not to mention all the other 'adverse" effects that stem from fast food.
You would be much better off eating some "healthy" calories spread out throughout the day. If you're looking to get a six pack quick, the majority of those calories should come from healthy sources. I'm talking "one" ingredient 'whole" foods such as eggs, chicken, and beef.
And, it you really want to maximize fat loss and even promote muscle mass, you're new best friend is protein.
Why?
The great thing about protein is your body is very inefficient in breaking it down. This causes it to use the most energy to metabolize protein than other foods like carbs and fats - causing you to burn more calories.
For example, did you know your body can only metabolize 160 of the calories contained in a 200 calorie chicken breast? Where do the other 40 calories go? They are "burned" away for the work requires to break down the food. This is good news as it means your body is actually burning fuel when you eat. It does this with all types of foods but protein requires the highest amount of energy.
What this means for you and I is we can actually burn calories and use energy when we're NOT in the gym. What a fantastic way to leverage your time.
Pretty cool huh?
As you can see, getting your food from healthy, "whole" food sources high in protein is one of the most basic, yet important steps towards gaining fast six pack abs. This allows you to burn energy even when you're not working out - resulting in maximum fat loss and sculpted six pack abs.
