Laptops How Vulnerable are They?

Laptops are now the most popular way in which we compute, and whilst most laptops lack the performance of their desktop counterparts, they offer some important advantages most notably portability. However, just as the advent of the motorcar also brought some problems, so the advent of the laptop also has brought some inherent issues and vulnerabilities.

In fact it is exactly because of their portability that laptops are in some respects vulnerable. For example, with Wi-Fi internet now ubiquitous, many laptop owners use their devices in public or semi-public spaces, which of course makes them much more vulnerable to theft, and not only theft in the traditional way, but using unsecured wireless networks can put your personal data at risk.

Of course just the fact that laptops are not static unlike desktops this makes them much more vulnerable to damage as well as theft and therefore it is a good idea to bolster your laptop somehow, by using a protective casing, for example.

On a similar note, the mode in which laptops are used makes them more vulnerable to issues, and it is often the case that laptop users will consume food or drink in close proximity to their devices; this carries obvious dangers, and spillages are a leading cause of damage to laptops! Also, laptops are often connected to laptop power adapters despite their portability and if constantly jostled about this can lead to damaged laptop power adapters which if not replaced will obviously lead to your laptop losing power completely.

Whilst it is the portability that make laptops so popular, many laptops do still not quite live up to their role as portable devices, and are still highly dependent on their laptop power supplies especially more powerful laptops such as gaming devices it is perhaps this dependence on laptop chargers that is their biggest vulnerability.
