Making Your Concrete Steps Look New Again

You may be able to think back to when your concrete steps were first poured and you may be able to remember just how amazing they looked. You can probably remember just how white and clean they appeared to be. Now, when you look outside at your steps all you see is faded concrete that looks worn out and dirty. This can be very upsetting and it can make your home look older than it actually is.

Try these steps to make your concrete steps look much more enhanced:

Purchase a nylon brush or broom and scrub the steps. You want them to be really clean and you want to get off any stubborn stains. Use environmentally safe soap and water to scrub the steps with the nylon brush or broom. You may find the nylon scrub brush easier to handle then a broom.

If you still have stains that you are not able to remove by scrubbing, then you will want to use a pressure washer to help remove the satins.

Let the steps dry for approximately one full day.

Cover the steps with concrete sealer. Make sure you only use enough to seal the steps. Do not add some much concrete sealer that makes your steps thicker with sealer. You want a think layer on the steps.

Let the sealer dry for 24 hours. Make sure that you have put some type of note or message on the steps so that people do not walk on them while they are drying. Not only could a person harm the look of the steps by stepping on the wet sealer, this could also be a hazard to anyone that walks on the steps.

Once the sealer has dried you will want to purchase an epoxy paint and paint the steps.

You will find that your steps look amazing. Just do not forget to take care of the handrails as well.
