I've always admired beautiful and stunning pictures that individuals took from their travels to various exotic destinations. In preparation for my study abroad this past summer, I had a checklist of things on my itinerary. One of my top priorities for the trip was a camera. I wanted to come back after my 11-week program with incredible pictures to commemorate my Asia immersion. I implanted an idea in my head that I had to get an SLR (single-lens reflex) camera, in simple termsthe fancy ones.

All these questions were swarming in my head. I turned to a friend who was quite knowledgeable about cameras, especially SLRs. He gave me a few pointers but he was not pointing me in the right direction. Still feeling like a lost sheep in the world of cameras, I stumbled across a very helpful guide online. Upon reading it a few minutes, it was exactly what I needed. This simple and helpful guide I came across was going to help me become a digital photography novice. I was by no means going to be an expert but it was definitely a great start.
The search for my prized camera took a few days from my conversations with a friend to reading this helpful guide. But alas, I was satisfied with a new purchase and at the thought of using my newly acquired camera to take pictures of the Great Wall of China, ruined temples in Angkor Wat, or skyline of Bangkok. It made me really excited at the thought of capturing all my memories in high quality pictures.
I returned from my trip with incredible pictures of my time in Asia. All my friends and family praised and talked about the pictured I took. I couldn't help but smile and agree with them but I didn't reveal my little secret of this helpful guide I used.
