This is an excerptfrom a personal interview with one of the mostknowledgeable fur experts in the business:
My friend Betty is a wild lady. She is unusually tall and lengthy and her loud voice commands attention from everyone around her. When she loves something, it really shows as she pours her all her soul and energy into it. Betty was a fur enthusiast to say the least. She was aging beautifully and she would glide across any social event with full confidence, which was accentuated by her figure, jaw line, and fashion. When she arrived at any social event wearing one of her long flowing mink coats, no one could help but look in her direction.
She was my customer for over twenty years before she had to suddenly move to California following her husband's big promotion. We still stayed in touch and she would give me a call once in a while and I would listen to her complain about her grueling endeavors of making new friends at her age.
Interestingly enough she still wore her furs in California and her other chief complaint was that when she turned in her fur for cleaning it would take over 2 and sometimes 3 weeks to clean. In addition, she didn't get along with her furrier, she had to endure a long boring drive to see him and she started to suspect fowl play when her mink coat came back a little crumpled after a "professional cleaning".
"I feel like I am the new kid in high school. I am an outsider and I need to make an extra effort to fit in. I have been going to social gatherings more than ever and I need my fur to be clean, fresh and poppin' You know."
She was always an emotional personal but now I can tell she was overly upset even for Betty.
Going back twenty some years, Betty was right there when I moved to the area and opened my fur boutique. We were immediate friends and she was a walking commercial for me. Everyone she met she would tell them to visit me. I had a 98 year old man come in once after Betty convinced him that after almost a century on this earth, he couldn't live another day without a Coyote jacket.
So when I heard my friend in distress, I had to put my years of expertise to use. Fairly quickly, I was able to design a travel size solution for all her fur care needs. Now she could use the Home Fur Cleaning Kit without leaving her home and get the same professional results.
I sent her a kit. She wanted 50! She wanted one for all her future friends. Two months later, she threw a big party at her house with a fur theme and gave out my fur care kit to everyone there. At first everyone laughed and thought it was a joke, they were always advised that fur can only be touched by a professional and that any home cleaning attempts would lead to disastrous results.
But Betty was ready for the critics and she took out a crumpled, musty vintage stole that she bought earlier that week. Silently, she walked over to a woman about half her height and looking her right in the eye. Betty slowly hander her mink stole she and a small box and said "Try it for yourself." Soon the stole was clean, straight, glazed, and had no odor.
