Black Friday Ads Already?
Black Friday Ads Already?

Black Friday is on its way yet again with its many deals and discounts. The ads have begun to bombard us from all the usual suspects - Walmart, Kohl's, and many others. It seems as though the advertisements for Black Friday and Holiday Season shopping keep coming sooner and sooner every year and Black Friday 2010 is no different. This year's official holiday shopping begins on November 26.

Will you be shopping on Black Friday?

Yes No

No one is exactly sure when the shopping holiday began, but it is widely accepted that the first official Black Friday deals began in 1966 and it was primarily an east coast thing. Over time, the tradition spread across the country, and became the sensation that it is today. The hardcore celebrators set their alarm clocks for 5 or even 4 in the morning and get to their shopping destinations as the sun is rising. Shoppers get the best deals around at all the major destinations such as Best Buy and Walmart. Others, want nothing to do with the holiday and avoid all stores and even leaving the house at all costs in order to avoid the shopping madness taking place all over the country.

At the end of the day, love it or hate it, Black Friday is another staple of American culture. It is a commercial holiday which in itself is very American. However, many people would agree that their participation is about much more than just shopping, and that there are many parts of it that they enjoy. It kicks off the shopping holiday season every year. Is it over-commercialized? Probably, but regardless it is a tradition that many celebrate habitually and love, and it will be around for many more years.
