List Building: How Free Traffic Can Help You Build Your Email List

Building an e-mail list is very important especially when running an online business. The most difficult part about building an e-mail list is the cost involved. This is why a lot of people like you and I turn to free traffic generation in order to build our e-mail lists. Consistently adding people to your e-mail list can be difficult when using free traffic though. The reason for this is that you can't control the amount of visitors that your website gets on a daily basis.

The best way to use free traffic to build your list is by building a network of content that allows you to get consistent traffic to your opt in forms in your blogs. Getting a consistent flow of website visitors is a numbers game but you can use these numbers in your favor if you know how to work the system. The best way to do this is by assigning a visitor value to each article or piece of content that you create. So for example, if you create three videos and post them to you to, you can expect to get to visitors to your website for each video that you create. I'm just using it to visitors as an example but it really depends from business-to-business. In my business if I write one article I normally get about three visitors to my website per article over a one-month period. So if I wanted to get 3000 visitors to my website over the next 30 days I would need to write 1000 articles.

You can take this one step further and figure out approximately how many people you can add to your e-mail list based on this new traffic that you get. So for every 10 visitors you get to your website if you get two people to join your e-mail list, you now know that 1000 articles will get you 3000 visitors, which will get you 600 people on your e-mail list. Obviously these numbers won't be exact but they will give you a good idea of what kind of results that you should expect and how many people can possibly join your e-mail list. You'll also have to adjust these numbers over time as you see what your average number of visitors will be per article and how many people actually end up joining your e-mail list because of those articles, videos, and any other content you decide to do.

By using the numbers game strategy, you'll be able to build your e-mail list faster and have a pretty good idea how much free traffic need in order to build that list of subscribers for your business.
