There are two months of the year that college students hate more than any other; August and January. It is not because that is when the start of the semester is, but because that is when they have to buy books, and there is no such thing as cheap college books at the university book store. Every semester college students spend hundreds of dollars that they do not have to because they do not realize they can buy the same books for much cheaper at online text book selling sites. Additionally, students can use these same sites to sell the books that they have to other students and recoup at least some of their costs.
Keeping your Education Costs Down with Cheap College Books
You might be worried about selling your books online, but there is no reason to. Text book sales sites are extremely reliable, and you will have a good experience. Why buy a book brand new from the book store when you can buy it for half price or less from a student who has used it before? And do not fall for the trap that your book store will set with buy backs. They will only buy back so many copies before they send copies to book distributors, which means that they will hardly pay anything for a book you might have spent hundreds of dollars on.
Let's look at an example to see what this can really mean. If you buy book X for your history class from the book store, you will probably pay about $80 used, or $100 for a new copy. If you are the first person in line to sell it back at the end of the year, they might pay $40 for it. You might find the same cheap college books online for about $55 or $60. Then when you sell it for $45 or $50, you end up spending much less than you did for the book store's copy. Don't fall for the trap of college text book stores.
