How To Keep Your Beach Body Through The Winter

If you are like most people, you find it a lot easier to lose weight in the spring and summer than in the fall and winter. During the warmer weather, you can do a lot more outdoor activities, and you do not have the major binging holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. While for many it is difficult, keeping your beach body, or even achieving your beach body for next summer, is a very realistic goals for this winter.

What does it really take to get in shape. Well, for starters, let us look at calories. I am not a fan of counting calories. I know some people that do it, but most people try and fail miserably. While you do want to watch your caloric intake, counting calories is not usually necessary. Just know that 3500 calories is the equivalence of 1 pound. That means that for every 3500 calories that you burn more than you take in, you should lose a pound. Use that as a guideline, but don't waste your time going crazy over the exact number of calories you take in and burn.

I have met way too many people that complain that they don't lose weight while doing hundreds of crunches everyday. That is because that is not the way to lose weight, for 2 reasons. First of all, that is only really working 1 muscle group, which is your abdominals. Second, doing the same exercise all of the time will not get you very far. Our bodies have the this incredible ability to adapt to our exercise routines. That means that if you just keep doing the same thing, you are not going to see very much along the lines of results.

Here are some key pointers to getting/maintaining that beach body through the winter months.

First - Diversify your workouts. Keep your body guessing what is going to happen next. This will keep it from adapting, and help you get the results that you are looking for (your beach body).

Second - Be sure to incorporate exercises that require multiple muscle groups at once. This will put more demand on your body, increase your intensity, and burn more calories. Also, there is another beautiful benefit of working out the right way. When you get into the habit of exercising the right way, on a regular basis, you are going to increase the rate at which your body burns calories. I am not talking about during your workouts. I am talking about all day long.

Do NOT starve yourself. Your body needs nutrients. This is especially true if you are working out. Without fueling your body with the right food, you are going to do nothing but damage. That is not the way to get a beach body.
