Doing a home workout program all by yourself can get awfully boring and lonely after awhile. One way to make exercising at home exciting again is to find friends or neighbors to start a home workout group with. Everything is more fun when there's at least a few people doing it together and exercising is no exception.
There are lots of good reasons to start a home workout group. It's a great way to spend time with friends, while also doing something that's really beneficial for your health and wellness. If you've recently moved to a new area, it's a great way to make new friends. It's also a wonderful way to be able to share and try new home workout programs. They can be expensive, but if you workout with three or four friends and each of you has different fitness programs, you get a lot of variety in your workouts without having to spend money on all of the programs yourself.
For many people, working out with others is also a great source of motivation. You are probably going to be more likely to do all your workouts and to workout harder when you are doing it in a group.
If you have kids, finding other moms with kids to exercise with is a fun way to let the kids play while you do something good for your health. Kids can be a pain when you're trying to work out, so if you have little ones, they can either entertain each other or each of the moms in the group can take turns watching the kids while the others get their workouts in.
But how do you go about starting a home workout group? The obvious answer is to call a bunch of your friends to see who is interested. If you are new to your area or don't know anyone who wants to workout with you, there are lots of more creative ways to put a group together as well. If you live in a large community, there may be community centers where you can hang flyers. If you belong to a church, that's a great place to find people to workout with. Websites like Meetup.com allow you to post events and others can search them and then sign-up to attend. If you're careful, that's a great way to find like-minded people and make new friends at the same time. If you belong to a gym but work out at home as well, your gym is a great place to find workout buddies. Get creative, get the word out, and soon you'll have more friends to workout with than you know what to do with!
