Tips for CAT Aspirant 2010: How to Beat the Stress

Students from different academic backgrounds and from different parts of the world, have a common platform to share, CAT. All of us know that it is a rigorous process to prepare for the CAT exams. With the recent change in the format, it has become a formidable issue to handle. But if you have prepared well, stay calm, revision is the only mantra.

Most of us have this habit of getting stressed out easily. Sometimes we notice even the best of them succumbing to pressure. It is quite understandable that the process of preparing for CAT could be quite frustrating as well as mundane, but competitive examinations require a certain kind of grit which is very important to succeed. Perseverance is the key and you need to be totally focused to win this game.

Try and avoid discussing your preparation with your friends. It can often lead to a lot of confusion as to whether you are on the right track. Avoid yourself from participating in hot debates pertaining to a topic in question. Keep telling yourself that you know the right thing and no matter what the others have to say, you will come out with flying colors. Stay away from people who stress you out. You need to be amidst people who are really supportive and have total faith in your actions.

Having confidence in yourself will certainly help you win the race. Keep a positive attitude all the time. Remember that past failures have only helped you to become more focused and determined. Think about the past successes you have had in other exams and keep telling yourself that this exam is no different. Keep aiming higher. Do not give yourself a chance to feel complacent. In spite of your good preparation if you fall prey to stress, you are bound to fail. Remember, that has happened to the best of us.

Family can always be like a breath of fresh air in such scenarios. Talk with people who are close you. Avoid consciously that feeling of depression which might be looking for a scope to engulf you. Stay happy and maintain a balanced diet. Discomfort in the body could also lead to stress and strain. Yoga can also be a good way out if you want to tackle stress. Breathing exercises can do you a world of good even when the whole world seems to be at loggerheads with you. Calming the nerves is an important way to stay focused.

Finally, as far as revision is concerned, keep your strategy flexible. Try and keep alternative solutions at hand. Every problem has a way out. Just keep a cool head and think. Take a break sometimes. A day off can work wonders for you. Do not waste time. Just use that day to introspect on what you have already completed and what all you still need to do. Draw up a plan of action. Then go out for a walk. Tomorrow is a new day.
