The idea of the electric car has been bandied about the motoring world over the last couple of year, and on the whole, has gone down quite successfully. Cars have been designed and we have seen the face of the electric car gradually change to be what we see today. But the idea of the battery has always seemed to fox the designers of these vehicles. Mini came up with the idea of losing the boot for a tidy little battery compartment, and other manufacturers have thought of making the actual aluminium panels of the vehicle chargeable, so that the car can run on solar power.
But another great idea that has come into the public vision is that of the docking area'. Delphi Automotive has teamed up with WiTricity Corp, who deals with wireless transfers, to create a docking station which would be affixed to your designated car parking space at home. Another part of the wireless charger would be affixed ot the bottom or bumper of the car, and at night, the two would wirelessly connect to charge the battery.
The car would still need to have a plug in capability, for in the instance that the car wasn't parked in its parking space, and risked losing charge. In this instance, the car would have cable plug in capacity, and major cities would have docking stations' much like petrol stations of the past, where you would be able to recharge the batteries of your car while stopping for lunch.
