Tips on Choosing Snowboard Clothing

As with any winter outdoor activity it is very important to make sure you are properly dressed, and this is especially true in the case of snowboarding. In order to get pleasure from a day out on the snowy mountains you need to remain warm and dry. Check exactly what you are choosing as this can be all the difference between a successful day and a miserable one. Snowboard clothing is all a matter of layers.

Firstly there is the base layer. Cotton on this level is really not a good choice. Cotton soaks up moisture which unfortunately means that it will absorb your persperation. It then becomes cold and wet and and you will feel damp, cold and unhappy. It goes without saying that this should be avoided so that you have an excellent snowboarding day.

The best sort of fabrics to wear against your body when snowboarding are synthetic ones. Polyester and polypropylene are good options. Your first layer should consist of long artificial underclothing, a long sleeved shirt and a pair of high socks. If you wear 2 pairs the elastic could get tight and uncomfortable.

Next is the middle layer. This layer is what will keep your body insulated against the cold air. Depending on the climate, either a jacket or vest can be worn. Man made fabric should also be worn on this layer.

The top layer needs to be resilient and easy to wear. You'll need something that is strong enough to protect you from the wet snow and the wind, but it should also be comfortable enough to enable you to move around freely.

It is a good idea to find pants with belt loops for your outer pant layer. A whole lot of motion is required while snowboarding and if your trousers are not held firmly in place they can easily slip down. A simple belt will keep this embarrassment from happening.

Lastly, don't forget there are accessories and equipment. To protect your hands and to keep them warm make sure you purchase a good pair of gloves or mittens. To make sure you keep the heat in and wet out your jacket sleeves or shirt sleeves should be pulled over them. A hat is a good idea too in order to keep you warm. Goggles are a good idea to shield your eyes.

If you remember these tips for choosing the right snowboard clothing you will definitely have a fantastic time out on the mountains. You will stay dry and warm all through the day, even if you happen to fall down now and again.
