Gentlemen (and ladies) start your engines and hold on to your hats! Audi is bringing its TT RS Coupe to American shores before the end of next year and Hartford used Audi TTS customers will no doubt flock to their dealer for this incredible ride.
After Facebook surveys which revealed considerable interest from U.S. customers, Audi made its final decision to launch the TT RS in the United States. "With performance and agility rooted in Audi motorsports success, the TT RS is truly an emotional sports car," said Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America president. "That emotion became abundantly clear as we explored interest across the country."
No price has been set yet for this model in the U.S., but Hartford used Audi TT drivers who love the brand may not be as concerned with the price as how soon they can get behind the wheel of the Audi TT RS. And when it is launched here next year it will only be in the coupe version - for the time being.
This Audi model will arrive with the 2.5-liter TFSI, five-cylinder engine that it boasts in the European market. This turbocharged engine was developed just for the Audi TT RS and was this year's winner of the International Engine of the Year for its category. Partnered with a six-speed manual transmission and quattro, Audi's permanent all-wheel drive system, it can hit 62 mph in 4.6 seconds.
Another boon for Hartford used Audi TTS customers is that the new Audi TT RS will be the first can in North America with an aluminum body built according to the Audi Space Frame principle, which produces low drag.
Superb traction from the quattro all-wheel drive system also helps provide stability for the TT RS. The aluminum body helps create a perfectly balanced axle and the rigid, high-static body stiffness allows for precise handling of this sports coupe. With a lower suspension (10 mil.) due to the standard sports suspension, the ride is smooth and get be even smoother with the addition of the optional magnetic ride adaptive damping system which offers modes in Comfort and Sport.
Hartford used Audi TT customers will roll happily along with the Audi TT RS 18-inch wheels and 245/40 tires. The brake disks are internally ventilated and the front friction rings are perforated. Connected to the aluminum brake disks by hollow pins, they are encircled with calipers struck with the RS logo.
The ESP stabilization system, featuring a Sport mode, can be deactivated entirely. Just one of many enticing features for the 2011 Audi TT RS that await buyers when it hits the U.S. next fall.
