If others in this city are like me, they're tired of their coworkers and friends populating their inboxes and Facebook walls with ridiculous short films about pet cats and full-length features of their sons' or daughters' first words. Wouldn't you rather watch someone with something original to say?
So maybe I'm making assumptions, but what I like to see are new things, exciting things. I don't want to turn YouTube too corporate, but this is where I prefer to see new information and entertainment, "discovering" them rather than having them forced into my ears and eye sockets. And the nice part about checking out the latest quality things on YouTube is that you're met with a high-production-value video.
Automakers have embraced the stars of YouTube as much as anyone recently, and now the Kia Soul has sponsored a American Idol-ish YouTube contest based on fan voting all to crown the next YouTube star. The Kia Soul is certainly a vehicle that stands out from the crowd, and finding the one person in a million who does something interesting in front of a camera seems like the perfect way to promote its uniqueness.
Kia called its contest the "Who's Next? Contest", and the winning video is, well, interesting: http://www.youtube.com/kiasoul?x=contest_4723. One thing is for sure, the way advertising used to be done is no longer very interesting. When I recently purchased tires in Peoria, no newspaper or television ads were on my radar. I went looking for the best deal. I went to the internet. And yes, first I went to YouTube to discover the best set of tires for my needs.
I'm sure you're familiar with YouTube, but if you're not familiar with the Kia Soul, I suggest you head over to your Peoria Kia dealership to take a look at this fun model, even if you're not actively shopping for a new car. We've all taken those test drives, haven't we? The Soul is a really cool vehicle for young drivers and empty nesters that want more space and functionality than a sedan can provide but don't need a ton of room for strollers and car seats. The Soul is an inexpensive and fun ride, like any good YouTube cinema.
