Research Papers have a valuable source of information in terms of citation data. A citation is basically a reference of another paper/publication in the research paper. This information can typically give an indication of social networks within research circles based on how cross referencing of citations are taking place. This indication of social networks can also provide useful data for recommendations of future work. This project involves taking a specific subset of research papers, for example Papers on programming languages submitted in Indian colleges. The papers need to be collected and the citation data needs to be extracted from the set of papers. This could be done either manually or as an automated process. The citation data should then be used to build a social network of research associates. The analysis of the social network needs to be done based on some parameters (number of cross references, geographic location, research area are some).
