How The Fear Of Success Can Corrupt Your MLM Journey

The fear of failure causes people to procrastinate. They are afraid to lose money, they are afraid to look stupid in front of other people, they fear being rejected. It can be overcome with the right attitude and associations.

Counterintuitively, it's not the fear of failure that limits most people. It's the fear of success.

"What if I just make it?"... Some people can become petrified thinking about it. With success, comes change - and this is what people fear.

If you're an active networker, you most probably will have visualised yourself as the successful person you want to be. You have visions of being surrounded by other successful friends, visions of being able to accomplish your dreams, visions of being kind and generous to others, visions of the possessions you have that reflect your success.

Visualising success can be very inspirational, they can also be quite intimidating because right now, you are not happy where you are.

You know you have to change your mindset. This is where the fear comes from. You lose your current identity when you become successful and that's why you're afraid. It leads to a fear of being disapproved by your closest, most influencial people, and eventually losing those ties with them.

Our lives are governed by our habits. Believe it or not, the things we think, feel and do today are 99 percent the same as the things we thought, felt and did yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that. It's as if we're running our lives on autopilot.

To change our habits requires a lot of will power over many days. We think just change what we eat, stop smoking, stop drinking and live a healthy lifestyle starting today, but in reality we can't because we have bad habits that prevent us from doing that.

Our habits are part of who we are. When you begin to change your habits bit by bit, the people around you will begin to notice. They will see changes in the way you behave and in the decisions you make, they will notice a difference in the way you speak, and they may not like you anymore because you have changed. The fear of losing one's associations and community can really sabotage success.

The extra responsbilities that come with acheiving success can also make us have a fear of it.

In reaching the "diamond" level, you will have built an organisation of hundreds, if not thousands of distributors. Your phone may never stop ringing. You may get hundreds, even thousands of emails every day that you'll have sort through.

And you think to yourself... "Oh my gosh, I don't want to have to deal with all that!"

Yes, all of this may (or may not) happen, but the worry can kill your chances of becoming successful. Fear of success can be dealt with. If you find yourself worry about the negative things that might happen when you become successful, stop and think the other way.

Think of all the positive things you can do when you become the person you want to be. Think of the positive influence you'll have on other people. Then decide if the positives of being a successful individual are worth it. In most cases, it is.
