Project Time Management

Managing time is very much important for project accomplishment. Time management would definitely help an organization to have more sensible time frames. Time management involves preparing an effective plan. A project manager should able to plan time frame to finish the project to achieve the target.

While creating a schedule you have to ensure that all tasks are included. If you fail to make the time frame of your project then you may fail to achieve the target in time. The best way to start time management is to list all the tasks that need to be done. This listing helps you to plot the tasks later in a certain time frame. After this you can plot the tasks.

There are 6 time management processes:

Define activities-Identify specific action to be performed to produce project deliverables.

Sequence activities-Identify and document relationship among project activities.

Estimate activity resources- Estimate the type and quantity of material, people, equipment and supplies required to perform each activity.

Estimate activity durations- approximate the number of work periods needed to complete individual activities with estimated resources.

Develop schedule-Analyze activity sequences, duration, resource requirements, and schedule constraints to create the project schedule.

Control schedule-monitor the status of project to update project progress and managing changes to the schedule baseline.

The intention of the Project Time Management is to make sure that project gets completed on time. And not only for the project manager but also for the whole team it is very much important to be clear with the project objective to finish the project in a certain time.
