I found some reviews from other keyboards, Yamaha, Piano, built, and some of them pointed to this great price. Internal piano sounds very good, but you only have about 5 or 6 sounds. I did not buy the internal sounds. I bought because of the semi-weighted and graded keys, and the fact that she MIDI IN / OUT ports. Many current-generation entry level Yamaha keyboard now only USB port for connection to a PC over MIDI chipset, but the actual MIDI port connection to another device MIDI. This is a MIDI keyboard ports.
In addition, it is very easy and truly portable. My only complaint is that the description said it comes with power adapter, and it is not. Most places I checked said the adapters sold separately, so I was surprised that it was shown here on Amazon ... but then it is not included.

Frustrating for learning fast songs
I am an intermediate level piano player, and I am used to using an acoustic Yamaha upright. As a practice piano, the np-30 gets a 3 because learning fast songs is different and harder than on the 'real thing,' but it has decent sounds and sensitivity and it is portable (I believe it's the smallest and lightest 76-key keyboard). So while I'm disappointed having bought into the 'hype,' I still enjoy using it all the time. Here are some differences that you should know if you, like me, want to learn to play with fast hands:
--Key spacing: the keys are 3/4" smaller than an acoustic, over the whole keyboard. There are also noticeable gaps in between each one. I would sometimes get my fingers "caught" in the space and so unintentionally play extra notes when moving my hand back and forth quickly.
--Slippery keys: The plastic is the same as any keyboard, so it is more difficult to grip than an acoustic's. The black keys are a little thinner and more rounded than an acoustic's square-ish ones. Make sure your fingers are curled on difficult passages to limit the slippage.
--Key sensitivity: I don't think the dynamics are as broad as an acoustics. The lightest touch that would work on an acoustic sometimes doesn't make a sound. The back part of the keys is more rigid, making playing loud chords using weaker fingers harder. Turning touch sensitivity down helps, but limits the range.
Overall, I still think this keyboard was the right choice for me since I really value portability. Others may want to either get the casio wk110 which is similar but cheaper, or a p85 or px-130 for a more tactile feel.

which is not included as advertised. The seller sent me a free one after a few emails but I notice the ad is still not updated....
Good product for occasional use for a professional musician, it is genuinely portable and perfectly adequate sound.
Excellent keyboard
After regretting quitting piano lessons when I was 11, 42 years later I decided to start again. Not having a piano, I decided to buy a keyboard. I didn't want a 'toy' or one that had a bunch of extras, but I wanted quality. While this keyboard can't duplicate the feel of a real piano, it comes very close. The sound is perfect, I love the portability, and I like the professional look (it doesn't have a bunch of flashy colored panels, lights, and buttons). I wish Yamaha made a model just like this but with all 88 keys.
I suppose that someone really serious about their music would want to have a real piano or spend a lot more for a more full featured keyboard, but I love this one! My piano teacher was impressed with the keyboard and my lessons are going very well! My son-in-law was very impressed with it... and unlike me, he actually can play! Now he wants one.
The sound produced is fine for my purposes. I haven't tried external speakers with this yet, but I think it would improve the sound quality. It does sound awesome with headphones!
I would recommend this keyboard to someone just beginning or for someone who doesn't have room for a piano or wants portability.
