Do you feel anxiety over your electric bill? Do you dread opening the envelope every month? Unfortunately, the price of electricity isn't going down anytime soon; at least it's not for as long as you continue getting it the traditional way!
The only way you can save money every month is by either making sacrifices or investing in solar energy for houses. Solar energy isn't difficult to obtain, just as long as you have a good system in place. While buying a complete system can cost thousands, you can actually make your own solar panels for a fraction of the cost. The tools are easy to obtain, and you can get a DIY guide online.
Here are the steps in regards to solar energy for houses:
1. Calculate the amount of kilowatts your family uses every month. You can get an idea of this by looking over past bills. This will give you a rough estimation of how powerful your solar energy system needs to be.
2. If you don't have enough room for an entire series of solar panels, you can still benefit with two or three of them. Any amount you can save on your monthly electric bill will go a long way in the coming years.
3. Make room for your solar panels. Ideally, they should go on the roof of your house. If that's out of the question, you can either install them on top of a nearby building or on a tall mount.
4. Once you are ready to begin the project, order a good DIY guide. A good guide will include: a list of all the parts you need, advice on where to obtain them, blueprints and instructions on how to put everything together, instructional videos on how to build them and install them, and customer service.
5. You can order most of the parts on eBay or Craigslist. Solar cells can be ordered online at an affordable price. Just make sure you order enough to power as much of your home as possible.
6. You probably already have all of the required tools in your toolbox. If not, you can easily get them at any hardware department. Only basic tools are required for a solar power project: a wood cutter (if you're going to make the frames out of wood), drill, saw, screwdrivers, wire cutters, soldering iron, etc.
7. Once you have the parts, tools, and guide, you can begin the project! Follow the directions carefully and do exactly what is shown in the tutorial videos.
8. For installation, you will need mounts. Position the panels facing south. Figure out your latitude tilt and position the panels accordingly. You might have to adjust the angle a bit during summer and winter months. Your DIY guide should explain everything in detail.
9. That's it! Hopefully, the construction and installation both go smoothly. As for maintenance, you just need to clean the panels once a month or so. Simply wipe the dust, pollen, and bird droppings off of the panels.
10. You need to decide whether or not it'd be worth it to disconnect from your local power grid. For some, solar energy for houses is sufficient. For others, it solar panels only supply a portion of the electricity needed for a home.
These guidelines are really just the beginning. You can get the COMPLETE, step by step solar blueprint for saving THOUSANDS of dollars (yep, thousands.) every single year on your energy bills with your own homemade solar panel system.
