We are slowly approaching costume party season, not that they ever go away, but the winter months seem to have more of them, especially with Halloween. Here are 5 things to consider when looking for a special outfit.
1) Talking. Come costumes make it hard to converse because the head is covered, sound is muffled, and even movement of the jaws may be tough. Will you need or want to talk a lot? It can influence which outfit you choose.
2) Eating and drinking. Any outfit with a full face mask will make it hard to eat and drink, two popular party activities. A straw might work wonders for drinking sometimes. A related issue for drinkers is going to the bathroom. How tough is it? Do you need to remove the entire costume?
3) Warmth. Some costumes are very warm. This can be great if you are outside, but if you are in a hot crowded space not so good. It's very possible to get extremely hot and uncomfortable in some costumes.
4) Ease of movement. With some costumes you can boogie to your hearts content, yet with others dancing is tough if not impossible. Walking may even be hard. What do you plan on doing?
5) Driving. Driving may be tough, unsafe, and even illegal in some costumes. If this is your plan, can you put on your costume conveniently after you arrive?
