Thoughts On Our Economic Crisis:
Thoughts On Our Economic Crisis:

How are you doing?

Financial experts say that the financial crisis is far from being over, regardless to what the talking heads say. As a matter of fact, they are predicting it will get worse, far worse before it gets better. The national unemployment rate is 9.6%, but that does not include the people who have become discouraged and have stopped looking for work or the employees who are underemployed i.e. (persons with Masters Degrees working as sales clerk or some other job that does not require an advanced degree). To some 9.6% of the US work force doesn't sound like a large number of people, however, the number equated to 14,800,000 people. To others that still may not be a large number, then again, if "YOU" are one of the unfortunate to be in that number - it is indeed significant. How are you doing?

How is that working for you?

If you are one of the fortunate ones who did not lose your job and are still employed, how many jobs are you actually doing? I have a friend who said her friends got laid off and she was fortunate to be chosen to stay. "Fortunate", she is performing four different function that four other people use to perform in addition to her original task. Nonetheless, she is still only getting one paycheck that did not increase. When she approaches her manager to say she needs help, it is too much the retort she receives is, "I don't need to hear what you have to do, I just need you to do it." It is unfortunate that corporations are abusing their employees. It is unfortunate that flesh and blood human beings have become peripherals to phones, PCs and desks. They seem to have no other significants than to operate the devices they are assigned to, remain voiceless like the devices they operate and meet your deadlines. Somehow, it has been forgotten that we are all indeed someone mother/father, sister/brother, son/daughter and we do indeed matter. How is that working for you?
