Finding a Profitable Niche

Are you new to the concept of affiliate marketing? Every day, thousands of people try their luck with affiliate marketing and one main aspect of being successful is finding a profitable niche. A niche is a specific topic that you will base your business around online.

For many people, it can be particularly challenging finding a profitable niche. They struggle to pinpoint one specific area that they believe will show them some sort of a profit or a reward. The truth is that far too many people do not conduct the necessary research into the background of the niches that they are thinking of basing their online businesses around.

One particular thing to keep in mind is that you have research to do. This research is conducted by every good marketer, and it is known as keyword research. If you were thinking, for example, of promoting "dog training", then you would probably want to target a very specific market, such as Labrador owners. You would need to have a look at the keywords to see how many people are searching those keyword terms.

A very large factor in finding a profitable niche is examining the competition around the niche you are looking at. For example, if you are considering "training your Labrador retriever", then you will need to check how many other web sites are targeting that exact same term. If there are less than 4,000 sites, then it is probably a niche you can make some money with. If there are over 500,000 sites, then it is highly likely you will be buried on page 850,000 in Google and no one will ever see your website.

Before you put in the hard work of building a site, purchasing a relevant domain name and then adding relevant content, you want to make sure that this is a niche that you can make some money with. If the competition is too fierce, then you may never make a dime. In fact, you will be out of pocket for the cost of your hosting, domain name and probably the web page template that you purchased to build your website.

Don't let this tragic series of events happen to you. Do your due diligence, research your topic and find your target audience before you start to build a webpage. Too many people make the mistake of building a page and then expecting instant traffic. I'm sorry to inform you that this just will not happen. You need to provide some valuable information with the correct keywords and ensure that your competition is low. Read more about finding a profitable niche.
