Fribiz, a young Israeli startup that began development only a year ago, has officially launched. The idea is simple get a virtual currency for products that you want, and then use it to bid on products. Actually, Fribiz is a syndicated virtual currency platform.
In our daily lives we interact with other people, supply recommendations and also participate in games. Fribiz gives the user points for almost every interaction: joining the site, bidding on products and bringing other people to Fribiz. Every action yields points, that are also called Fribiz. This might be confusing at first.
Writing posts, commenting and interacting with "associates" (agents) are all additional ways of getting points. And there's one more thing weekly missions. Fribiz, the site, doesn't have a slogan yet, so any suggestions for them will also gain points, with the winner taking a big prize.
The model of getting products for interacting while being exposed to the products, and exposing others to them sounds fascinating. At this early stage, it's still too soon to say if products will reach a "fair value" meaning that participants will know how many points they'll have to offer for a product, and what volume of action will be needed for gaining those points.
Fribiz was founded by Effi Fuks andYaniv Shimoni. Fuks, which also serves as the CEO, told The Wadi: "We are creating a model in which the user won't feel that he's being used, making something good".
Their business model is still under development, and will be exposed in a few months. Till then, the site will probably gain traction, as this model creates great curiosity.
