North Miami Subaru Impreza STI: 2011 model year brings back sedan

The biggest news about the 2011 Subaru Impreza you'll find at Miami Beach dealers is that the STI will be offered in the sedan version once more, along with the hatchback that supplanted it in 2008 when the model was taken a new direction.

The return of the sedan marks a good moment for the model. It means Subaru has perfected enough about the car to appeal to a range of buyers, and the 2011 Impreza STI delivers with four doors or five.

The sedan actually offers more aerodynamic ability than the hatchback counterpart. Apparently with a top speed of 158 MPH, it beats out the hatchback by three MPH. Most of you will barely know the difference. If you do find yourself in a situation in which those three extra MPH will mean the difference between life and death, just turn to Keanu Reeves and tell him to find more speed. And you know Keanu is good for it.

The point is, both the hatchback and sedan offer the best of Subaru. The hatchback STI does fight back in interior cargo space, coming out 7.7 cubic feet ahead of the sedan. Both models feature rear fold-down seats, though. The sedan is quite sleek and about a half foot longer. To me, the hatchback is more practical from a cargo standpoint. And I'll also take its slightly shorter body. Six inches has been the difference between the parking spot I want and the parking spot I get on more than one occasion.

For 2011 models you'll find locally at your Miami Beach Subaru dealer, both the sedan and hatchback will benefit from the updated front-end styling, which looks more aggressive. The Limited model available in the sedan only, adds leather seats, sunroof, and audio gadget connections. New for 2011 in this Subaru is the All-Weather package that brings heated front seats and side mirrors as well as windshield wiper defrosters Just in case some of you reading this won't be spending all of your time in Miami Beach.

The other advantage added by the addition of the 2011 STI sedan is price. The sedan starts at $34,720 while the hatchback begins at $36,720. Both models make the price seem right, however, as the hatchback comes in just one trim level and offers added cargo space.
