Winter Park Toyota RAV4 dealers proud to be part of Marine scholarship program

Toyota has a proud tradition in the auto industry of taking care of their customers and now they are helping out another group with a proud tradition - the U.S. Marine Corps. Your Winter Park Toyota RAV4 dealer is honored to be able to participate in this program.

The Toyota Motor Co. has presented 16 scholarships in the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation program that gives scholarships to children of Marine Corps members who have been killed or wounded in combat or who have a financial need for help with their education.

In fact, Toyota has been part of this worthwhile program since 2004 and set up a 1.65 million endowment that covers these scholarships annually. They are in the amount of $5,000 each - a very generous amount for an annual scholarship fund. Scholarships are given from the 12 Toyota regional sales offices and four Lexus area offices in the United States.

Customers of Winter Park used cars know that Toyota is concerned about the quality and efficiency of their vehicles, but this scholarship program expands that same attitude to education, more specifically, education of our veterans' children. What could be more noble?

It doesn't seem, though, that Toyota is a part of this impressive program to boost its public relations. This has been an ongoing part of the company's goodwill for many years and they should be commended for it. "It's one way we can give back to these families that sacrifice so much for our country," said Don Esmond, Toyota's senior vice president for automotive operations, and a former Marine Corps captain, and pilot in Vietnam.

"It is an honor to be involved with Marine Corps Foundation and offer these scholarships," Esmond continued. He certainly understands the importance of honoring our veterans by taking care of their children's education.

The Marine Corps Foundation itself is the oldest need-based scholarship program in the country for U.S. military families. It has helped distribute more than $60 million in funds since 1962 and gave out 1,423 scholarships valued at $4.25 million for the 2010-2011 school year alone. Winter Park Toyota RAV4 staff know that every scholarship can help change a life and appreciate that Toyota has stepped up to do just that.

Toyota has contributed a total of $493 million to charitable causes in the United States since 1991. Buyers of Winter Park used cars can know that when they purchase a Toyota, they are helping with these scholarships and other worthy causes.

Toyota continues to work to improve fuel economy and safety features in their vehicles and delivers what customers want. That's why they are the number one car manufacturer in the world and why customers continue to put faith in them.
