Part of the study in self-awareness is really looking at things from many different perspectives. So I like to encourage all my students to study all the worlds great religions and study -- at least understand the basics of what the different spiritual masters of this world have taught us, so eastern, western, shamanistic, or indigenous, a metaphysical, as well as the arcane teachings.
And so Ive written a book, its called Looking for God, a Seeker's Guide to Religious and Spiritual Groups of the World. Now in its third edition. It had been a bestseller. And what Ive done is provided a compendium for you because you may want to know something about, say, Sufism, Kabbalah, or the Latter Day Saints, this book summarizes most of the groups you would have heard of, just a few pages on each.
But you dont want to read the whole book on it in the beginning. Maybe you just want to read a little bit about it, so Ive kind of summarized all the worlds great spiritual paths and traditions, and most of the great teachers so that you can comb through and see where youre guided to learn more about, see what interests you, see what pearls of wisdom there are for you to garner from these other great teachers and teachings. By looking at other perspectives you gain greater perspective.
