Shiny Legendary beast promo cards are coming your way in mid-July, 2010. This is the most hyped set of promo cards to hit Japan in quite some time.
From April, 2010 until the end of June, 2010, entries are being accepted for the Pokemon sweepstakes. In order to enter this contest, you must be a Japanese resident and buy two packs of either Legends Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Revived Legends, or Lost Link. Then you must cut off the bar code from two of the packs and send it in to the lottery office with your name, age, and where you bought the booster card packs. then you will be entered into a drawing for these beautiful card sets.
There are two different versions of the rare Pokemon promo cards that you can win. Version "A" features Ho-oh and Lugia and version "B" features the legendary beasts Suicune, Raikou, and Entei. You can only choose one version per sweepstakes entry. What makes these Pokemon promo cards different from others is the fact that they are considered "shiny" or alternate color variations. Each character is a different color from its normal color. For example, Ho-oh is brown in color and has a blue tail. Lugia has a purple stomach, and Raikou has a yellow mane, Suicune has a blue mane, and Entei has a gray face. In addition, each character has a unique skill that can only be found on the cards in this lottery campaign. The black star promo numbers haven't been released yet, but my guess is that its the missing numbers in the L-P series black star promo series.
Are you totally excited yet?
Now the really bad news. These cards are a lottery that is only open to people who live in Japan. In addition, only 1000 lucky winners will be chosen for each version of the cards. The winners will be notified and the legendary promo cards sent out sometime in mid-July, 2010. But, don't expect to get these for cheap prices. With only 1000 made of each set, these will be very difficult to get. Some of you may remember the last Japanese rare Pokemon promo card sweepstakes that was back in 2002. There was a similar lottery where the winner received either the Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur holofoil rare promo set, or the Typhlosion, Meganium and Feraligatr set. These cards sold for about $100 each when they came out. My guess is that this new set may be around the same price, but it really depends on how many winners keep their sets and how many people sell them. Also, keep in mind that the lottery in 2002 had 3000 made of each set. This time there is only 1000 made of each set. My guess is these will be even more popular and unfortunately more expensive. I don't think that these cards will be made in English, at least for a while, so this will probably be the only time you will be able to get them.
