In this article I am going to be breaking down the single most pivotal error that will cause you as a network marketer to struggle in growing your business and will stop you from being able to build your downline faster. I am also going to tell you what steps you should take right now to start to build your downline faster and become a top income earner.
So you got involved in an MLM business (or network marketing business), and your upline is telling that to build your downline fast you need to buy product samples, start hosting in-home parties, conduct 3-way calls led by them, take people out to lunch and tell them about your opportunity, and pass out brochures and business cards to anyone who will take them.
The reality is that doing these things can and do build businesses, but the biggest problem is that it happens really SLOWLY -- you rarely if ever build your downline faster than at a virtual snail's pace. And often this super-slow pace of growth causes network marketers to have to close up shop before they ever reach a decent profit point.
Why does this happen? Why doesn't this system work? It is because you are not leveraging yourself. Even if you have the speed of Carl Lewis, there are limitations that are going to naturally hold you back.
So you can do all of these things that your upline is telling you do -- and do them better than they've ever been done before -- and you will still spend the next five to ten years trying to build your business, and wondering why you can't seem to build your downline faster. On top of that, it is hard when you are building your business to compensate with new signups for all the people who will drop out over time. It is a major uphill battle from day one.
If you truly want to build your downline faster and become a top earner in your company, you have to think in terms of how to leverage yourself and follow up with actions that are conducive to making this happen. You can build your downline faster by learning the "tricks of the trade" on how to become the hunted instead of the hunter.
Think about this. Does Walmart have a problem selling millions of products every single day? No! People walk into their stores and happily plunk down their credit card on the counter.
To build your downline faster, your mission is to put your products in the line of site of people who already are looking for what you are offering but have not yet actually bought. In other words, you want to know how to attract potential buyers who are already interested in the benefit your product gives as opposed to twisting the arms of people who have NO interest in your product to become a distributor and sell your product. So if, for example, you sell a weight loss product, you want to put your message solely in front of people who are looking to lose weight before they make the decision to buy a weight loss product.
Many people call this attraction marketing. Call it whatever you want, but understand it is the key to being able to grow your downline faster, and it is how the biggest, baddest fastest-growing companies in the world built their businesses.
It's not until we know how to have people chasing us that we can build a successful business. You have to view your business from a leveraging standpoint, where you will have prospects chasing you and you are putting yourself in a position where your system is doing 99% of the work so you don't have to. Get to that point and you will immediately start to build your downline faster.
Building a business from a longevity standpoint is not about partnering with friends and family. (Who wants to do that anyway?!) Building a sustainable business model build down to the appropriate mental shift. Until you realize the power (and necessity) of how to position yourself as an authority and not chasing people and twisting people's arms trying to get them in your business, it will be nearly impossible for you to build your downline faster.
