The Three Steps to Building Your Own Web Site for Affiliate Marketing

Like most Affiliate Marketers, I started out posting my affiliate link everywhere that I could, while running several pay-per-click campaigns. I actually have done quite well for myself, but a year ago I started feeling like I had reached the point in time where I needed to take my business to the next level. After much research, I decided to create my own Web site to promote my affiliate programs. This step dramatically increased my conversion rates because of the specialized content and blog associated with the site. There are three primary steps that must be followed in order to create a personalized affiliate marketing Web site.

1) Buy a domain name and consider hosting options. The first steps in building a Web site for affiliate marketing is to purchase a domain name and to figure out hosting. This can be done rather easily online. Keep in mind that you can always buy more server space if it is needed, but most affiliate marketing Web sites do not require a whole lot of space, so hosting should not cost a lot of money.

2) Figure out the best course of action for building the Web site. Most affiliates that decide to build a Web site will use programs that make it very easy to "cut and paste" their way to a functional site. There are many software options available, but you want to find a Web builder that will allow you to expand if necessary. Be sure to install Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, as these applications will make it much easier to track your marketing efforts. The new Web site can be promoted just like any affiliate site with pay-per-click advertising campaigns and free marketing. Plus, creating a blog is a great way to cultivate a following.

3) Develop a content strategy. The success of your new affiliate Web site depends largely on the quality of content you are offering. If someone is going to buy your product, they want to feel that this purchase is coming from a knowledgeable and reputable entity. If you are not an above-average writer, it is best to outsource this work. It is through writing that Internet first impressions are made.
