Dewitt, NY November 1, 2010: The Fourth Quarter 2010 issue of The MHEDA Journal (http://www.TheMhedaJournal.org), the leading online magazine for the forklift, conveyor, storage & handling, and general material handling equipment industries, spotlights Cross Brothers Company, an engineered systems equipment distributor in Rochester, New York.

Cross Bros. Co. has been in business since 1845, when it was started by William and Oliver Cross as a seller of leather products. The company now makes its money selling power transmission equipment along with Hytrol conveyor equipment and components. President Tom Pavone is only the third non-family president for Cross Bros. in its long history, as the company is now in its sixth generation of family ownership. Pavone sat down with MHEDA Director Scott Lee, president of Conveyor Solutions in Schaumburg, Illinois, to discuss how Cross Bros. has evolved over its history and what is in the plans going forward.

The two spoke about strategic planning, employee retention, working in a family business, company goals, rebounding from a down economy and more. In describing his company's future, Pavone says, "Our forecast is very positive heading into 2011. Beginning with the First Quarter 2010, we saw an upturn in some systems integration projects." He continues, "We hope to grow through both business development and marketing. We're lucky to have some longstanding customer relationships, but we need to increase our visibility as the industry becomes more competitive." To do that, Cross Bros. is increasing internal communication and cross-training employees in different departments to drum up sales. "We now integrate a lot of equipment outside of what we typically have provided, so the customer only has one company to go to for everything on their manufacturing floor."
