Diwali, the festival of lights, togetherness and rejoice is knocking at our doors and I am sure we are all waiting eagerly to quickly open the door and celebrate this festival in as memorable manner as possible.
Diwali is also associated with wealth and there is a general belief that the festival is an auspicious occasion to buy new products. Companies also come up with various kinds of offers for their customers. I am confident that a lot of people must have already prepared their lists of the items they want to purchase this Diwali.
Consequently, I was thinking that we can celebrate this full of life festival in a diverse manner this year by recycling the old or unused items from our home or workplace. Old mobile phones, cameras, electronic items like television, laptop, printer and various such items lie at our home or workplace idle. We keep on buying new products and dump the old items in one corner of the house. After some time, we throw these items in the bin which eventually land in rivers and seas thus polluting our water bodies.
There are variety of options available for recycling old items. The need is only to recognise the right organisations that accept these old products and recycle them which is ultimately in the favour of our environment. If you are not able to find these organisations near your place then you can atleast donate these items to poor and needy people who cannot afford to buy new ones. There is also an option to resell these items in the market so that its different parts can be used in the production of new items or put to proper use.
So, this diwali do shop for all the trendy and fashionable items that you have decided but do not forget to first recycle the old items lying at your place. Let us make Diwali more prosperous this year by doing good things for our environment.
