Air Conditioning Inspections

Air Conditioning Inspections.

The air conditioning in your building could amount to a third of your annual electricity costs, with older systems (7-15 yrs old) will be using even more than that!

As part of the EPBD, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, the Government is introducing mandatory inspections of air conditioning systems, in an attempt to curb some of this energy wastage.

From 4th January 2009, you should have already had an inspection if your system is 250kw or greater.

If your system (a single or multiple a/c unit) is 12 kw or more, then you have until January 2011 to have it inspected.

Thereafter, the systems need repeat inspections every 5 years.

This is now law, failure to comply with the above legislation risks a fine.

You also risk higher running costs for your building and therefore your business. With gas and electricity prices tipped to increase by as much as 80%, businesses with fewer costs will be better placed to be more competitive and successful.

The inspection must be performed by an accredited inspector.

At Business Footprint we will look at:

The efficiency of the system, with recommendations to reduce, increase or improve elements. where necessary.

Any identified faults.

The adequacy of the installed controls and their settings.

We will perform cooling load calculations and comment on whether the current system could be altered or reduced, with significant savings to be made.

Where appropriate we will advise on ways to minimize the need for air conditioning.

Advise on a suitable maintenance program to ensure that the system remains efficient.
