Major Myths in Networking Marketing (Part I): Everyone can be a Successful Network Marketer

There are a few "myths" that regularly propagate through the network marketing industry. The belief of these "myths" by many people in the industry leads to an extremely high failure rate for people that attempt to pursue a network marketing career.
Perhaps one of the most widespread of these myths is that anyone and everyone can be a successful network marketer. As a result, the strategy of many in the industry is to simply try to build their downline by grabbing anyone with a pulse that is willing to join their organization. I'm sure most people in the industry that have used this method will attest to the fact that many of the people that they have join there downline do not have any business being an entrepreneur anyway. Because of that, many network marketers fight the constant battle of convincing members of their downline to "stay in" rather than spending that time furthering their business efforts. Also, because the people come into the business with little or no experience, training, or belief; they have no tools that are necessary to build their own businesses.
If you really think about it, it is really a poor use of your time to try to go around convincing everyone that you come across to join your opportunity. Remember, that statistics say that only 1%-3% of potential leads will actually turn into new members of your downline. Perhaps the man in front of you in line at the grocery store, your best friend, or your next door neighbor MAY be interested in your opportunity and become a ultra-successful business partner for you, but in most cases, that probably won't happen. That's because that NOTHING is the right opportunity for everyone! Not your opportunity, not mine, not anyone's. People have values and interests that are so varied that no one opportunity and situation would possibly be able to satisfy them all. Think about this:
There are people who have no interest in entrepreneurship. They actually love their jobs and/or current financial situation, and aren't looking for additional income.
There are people who think that it is morally wrong to make a lot of money, and that you must be cheating someone in order to make a lot of money.
There are people that just believe that networking marketing is a "pyramid scheme".
The list goes on and on. Most established businesses do not attempt to attract talent with the belief that everyone is right for their organization, and neither should you. The company will typically market the opportunity (lead generation technique) and wait for interested parties to submit an application (become an interested lead)! The concept sounds simple, but many people in the network marketing industry complete miss this technique, which leaves them spending a lot of time and having very little to show for it. To put it simply, your prospecting techniques should center around putting out ads and marketing materials (lead generation) and then spending time interacting with those that have responded to your marketing (dealing with interested leads). Dealing with leads that have already expressed an interest in your opportunity and are open to hearing additional information will allow you to completely avoid much of the negative feedback that you will encounter by trying to force-feed your opportunity to every stranger that you come across. Also, by establishing these marketing techniques, you can even set up systems that will drive interested leads to you automatically. Remember, the more time you spend dealing with the right kind of prospect, the more time you will spend putting money in your bank account.
