What Less Calories can do for you

If you are planning on losing weight, you will find that there are Low Calorie Diet Plans that will guide you on what foods to consume. Less Calories consumed per day and more physical activity will help you with your weight loss goals for the week. There are several healthy ways to lose weight.

You will find that several food items have a section of how many calories per servings it has. If you can keep track of everything you consume and add all the calories you will have an idea of how many calories you consumed for the day. For example if you burn about 2000 calories a day but you ate over 2000 calories, then you will probably stay the same or gain a little weight at the end of the week. But if you consumed less calories than 2000 and burned 2000 calories than you will lose some weight. You just have to make sure you are eating low calorie foods. Don't forget to eat healthy and foods that contain the vitamins you need.

Calories are units of energy your body uses to fuel its functions and activities and are created from proteins, fats and carbohydrates found in our foods and beverages. They are necessary for basic body functions like keeping the heart, brain and lungs functioning (also know as basal metabolism) and is essential to fuel activity.

The number of calories we need each day depends on how much we weigh, how much muscle mass we have and how active we are. So, if you consume more calories than your body needs, those extra calories will be stored as fat. But if you consume less calories than your body needs, your previously stored calories (fat) will be used to supply additional energy.

So if you consume less calories per day you will start to lose weight and maybe even notice it at the end of the week or you can do exercise to burn more calories. But it is not recommended to consume less than 1,200 calories per day.

If you are a woman: You will need about 12 calories for every pound of body weight .

Example: A woman weighing 150-lbs needs about 1,800 calories a day.

If you are a man: You will need about 14 calories for every pound of body weight.

Example: A man weighing 200 pounds needs about 2,800 calories a day.
