If there's one thing I know for sure it's that learning online marketing can be absolutely overwhelming and if you don't hold it together and focus on one (or two) things at a time, it can be enough to make your lose your marbles.
Because of my peculiar personality type, I tend to try to be a human sponge. When getting my feet wet in the industry this was NOT a good thing and it took me a while to realize it.
I had my eye on everybody and everything. I joined every list from self proclaimed guru's who appeared to be sharing must have' information or the hottest new product that I shouldn't live without.
I tried to learn ten skills at once, read everything I could get my hands on, studied the big guys' and then I realized.
I was overloading' on info but I wasn't actually DOING much at all!
I allowed myself to take in so much information that I had little time to actually put it into practice. What's worse is that when I went to actually DO some work, I was so far up to my armpits in alligators, some days I didn't know where to start or what to do first.
It became painfully obvious that if I had a penny for every moment I'd wasted thinking, studying and pondering and to be honest being nosey' I swear I'd have make a fortune.
If you're experiencing the same confusion, here are a couple of simple tips to be more productive:
Learning Internet Marketing does take effort in the way of studying and gathering information BUT learn one technique at a time! I.e.: If Article Marketing floats your boat, learn the basics about it, and the few techniques that make it effective, and then spend your time producing!
Second, DO NOT subscribe to too many lists. I have found over the years that when I initially joined a list, it seemed' very informative.
It soon became painfully obvious that many people only provide tidbits of information but only with the soul purpose of pushing affiliate product after affiliate product down your throat.
Your Inbox fills with multiple emails per day form the same people and you're soon overwhelmed with the influx and the inability to keep up. What's more if every email is offering no advice other than why you MUST hurry and buy "X" there is no value in that and it serves no useful purpose.
My suggestion is to choose perhaps three or four informative and helpful individuals who are clearly successful and professional. Subscribe to their lists and if chosen correctly, you will find that their emails are well spaced, and more often than not provide genuinely helpful information while occasionally intertwining the odd suggestion for a product they have found useful.
Don't bite off m ore than you can chew. Don't pay attention to mare people than you can listen to. And don't purchase more than you need.
Focus on learning a skill at a time and implementing it. Once mastered or under control, adopt another technique.
Rome wasn't built in a day. To build your solid foundation, you must succumb to the fact that baby steps are the way to go to get you to your milestone much faster than trying to full out sprint.
Slow and steady wins the race. Learning online marketing and doing a little each day will produce faster results and save you overwhelm and burnout.
