Let me ask you a question; would you like to sell your products online without having to spend any money? Of course you would; who wouldn't right? Well that is where Article Marketing comes in; article marketing allows writers to promote themselves or their business by writing articles and making the content freely available for reproduction on internet sites; to break it down, you write an informative article on a topic of your expertise and submit it to the top article directories. Most of these article directories get millions of visitors every month looking for information on any given subject; therefore, if one or more of these visitors read your article and like what they read then they will hopefully come back to read more.
If you do any kind of business online you know that getting visitors to your web site is you number one concern. Article marketing is a good way to expand to a broader audience by letting them know your expertise on any given subject. The purpose behind article marketing is to establish credibility and drive traffic back to you website. By writing articles and publishing them online you create backlinks to your site which means your site will go up in search engine results. You might be asking yourself what does this mean for me; to put it quite simply it means when people are searching on Google, Yahoo, or Bing to find what they are looking for; one of the first results they will see is your site. Also, there are many webmasters out there that rely on article directories to get their content which means your article could end up on hundreds of sites giving you even more backlinks; this is called article syndication and it is here where the real power of article marketing becomes obvious.
Don't be alarmed when I tell you there are literally thousands of article directories online. You and I both know it is not possible to submit your articles to all of them, but don't worry because a lot of them are nothing but spam sites filled with junk. There are only a handful of directories worth submitting to; I would recommend sticking with the top 5-10 directories. Here are a few where I submit my own articles to - EzineArticles, ArticleBase, and GoArticles.
Most article directories have what is called a Resource Box. This is a place for you to have a small bio with a couple of links to a site of your choosing. These links will not only provide backlinks, but also drive traffic to your site. Anyone who likes your article can simply click the link to your site. Some people find it helpful to use a unique URL in their resource box of each article, so they may track which of their articles is generating the most traffic.
