Staying In Shape During The Holidays By Making Yourself A Priority

The holiday season is a busy time of year and maintaining an exercise program to stay in shape may be the last thing on your mind. It is easy to forget about our health during the holidays when we are already busy multitasking.

It's a fact that regular exercise does wonders for your mind and body, but it can seem like one more chore that must be done, and it can easily get pushed to the back burner while you attend to "more important" things.

The following tips will help you make your holiday workout a priority, so that you can get through the holiday season feeling strong and refreshed.

1. Make Yourself a Priority

The first step is making a decision to make yourself a priority. Your wellbeing has to come before the gifts, food, family and crazy holiday shopping. If you do not make your health and wellness a priority no one else will either.

There are other important things to consider during the holidays, but you will not be able to accomplish nearly as much if you feel run down and exhausted every day.

2. Schedule Time for Exercise

No matter how many other things you have to do, make sure you schedule time for working out. Try working out first thing in the morning to get it out of the way, or do it in the evening after you have finished the days task.

Keep reminding yourself that working out is the most important thing for you to accomplish each day.

3. Multi-task

If you are squeezed for time then combine workout moves with other activities.

Walk rapidly around the mall 5 times before you begin your shopping.

Park your car several blocks from the shopping center so you have to walk a good 5 minutes there and back. Only consider this if you can do it safely.

Do squats and lunges while waiting for cookies to bake.

Do 50 jumping jacks for every cookie you eat while decorating them.

Your holiday workout plan does not have to be time consuming or difficult. You can make it fun and motivating if you use a little creativity.

The time it takes you to workout will be exceeded by the increase in energy and enthusiasm you are able to invest in other aspects of the holiday season and help you in your quest for achieving optimal health.
