subject: Where is your legacy [print this page] Where is your legacy Where is your legacy
Many have come and gone, many are here and many more still to come.
I certainly will not be able to question those who have come and gone, but for you that is alive today, my questions are:
Will the world be glad you came?
What will you be remembered for?
Are you living or existing?
Many have come into the world unnoticed and they left the same way- how sad! No wonder someone said that the wealthiest places on earth are the grave yards- for there are buried so many undiscovered and undeveloped potentials or talents that would have benefited the world one way or the other.
The electricity, computers, cars , airplanes etc are legacies left behind by some who dared to bless the world with the investment of their personalities; some of the stories about these great people reveals that they left their comfort zones just in order to achieve whatever it was they set their hearts to do; not just for themselves, but for the good of humanity.
Today, I get to see people cry to their government, some go around carrying large cards with inscriptions on them requesting for electricity and so many other things as the case may be, yet they seem to forget that these same thing they are crying for were discovered by human beings like them. What if these things weren't discovered, would they have been aware of the comfort such(for instance electricity) could provide?
Please note that I'm not in any way excusing such governments for not providing basic amenities for her citizens, but I am saying that it is a shame for one to be fighting, crying and begging for that which was discovered by someone like Him. John F. Kennedy once said "think what you can do for your country not what your country can do for you." And I am saying, "THINK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE WORLD."
Don't be receiving conscious but giving conscious. Foot prints in the sands of time are not made while sitting down. Look around you, every challenge you see is your opportunity. There is uniqueness in every man, what's that thing in you, that talent or ability? Recognize it, develop it and bless the world. No one ever came that was like you, No one is here that is like you and no one will ever come that will be like you. This implies you are one of a kind, so bring that uniqueness on stage. Help the needy around you, don't be self centred; remember, a candle loses nothing when it lights up another candle. Let the world be blessed by your coming, live and don't just exist.
SERVICES TO GOD AND TO HUMANITY, THESE IN MY OPINION ARE THE GREATEST LEGACIES.
