1.5 TB Elements installed, and functioned well
I just received the 1.5 TB WD Elements. I am using primarily as a backup for my
laptop and photos. Running it on Windows 7, the drive installed true plug and play,
with windows recognizing and loading drivers flawlessly. I quickly did a Windows
directed image backup. It worked fine, and the drive did not heat up much. I don't
know about durability, but am very satisfied so far. Only negative- it is now about
10 dollars cheaper on Amazon than I paid for it. That is a negative AMAZON!!!!
A likeable portable with a few drawback.
Likes:
No WD MioNet Crap that the WD Mybooks have.
Plug and Play.

Dislikes:
Short USB cord. I got this for a laptop.. the usb cord is about 18-24 inches.
Even shorter Power cord. Clearly designed for desktop usage. I'm currently looking for a longer replacement. It is about 4 feet long. Short for even a desktop.
And... usb 2.0 only. It would really rock if this had an eSata port, that would make it a more bootable option and would increase data transfer several times over.
Overall, a good option for general data use. If you're looking for something to clone entire hard drives, an external drive with an eSata port would be preferable.
Works like a charm
Works like a charm. It connected to a PC running Windows 7 without any issues. I am using it as a backup drive, so can't just speed, but it is quiet and cool.
The only thing to be aware of is that is does require that you use the included power adapter, unlike some of the small drives that get enough power from just the USB port.
