Holland, MI new Jeep Grand Cherokee a big stride forward

If you're looking for power, flash and a name you can trust, Jeep has just vehicle you are looking for with the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is appearing in showrooms this month. Holland MI new Jeep dealers should be prepared for a lot of buzz on this one.

The main attraction for those of us wanting power, especially in a weekend off-road vehicle, is the new Pentastar engine. Jeep adapted the former Phoenix engine and the new Pentastar is a 3.6-liter V-6 that gets 23 mpg highway. This is up 11 percent from the previous Grand Cherokee model and very respectable for an SUV.

Holland, MI buyers will appreciate the sleeker exterior look, double-panel glass roof and an upgraded interior. It still looks like a classis Jeep Cherokee, but is newly-styled enough to attract a lot of attention.

The ride is smoother as well, something Holland MI new Jeep customers will notice immediately. With new independent front and rear suspension systems and a stiffer chassis, this Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow up to 7,400 pounds. For die-hards, it also comes in a choice of three 4x4 systems. The price is nice as well, even less that the outgoing Jeep Grand Cherokee model. A base model Laredo 4x2 will run $30,995 and a 4x4 about $2,000 more. Prices for the Limited and Overland models will run similarly.

Now, I have to say I've heard rumors that a lower suspension on this model will make off-roading less feasible if not impossible. That doesn't seem to be the case, because the new suspension systems will compensate for the difference.

So this is not just a flashy car with no real off-road value. It's priced well and features many upgrades, both interior and exterior which make it worth my while to take a test drive. Not to mention that it is a Jeep Grand Cherokee and that means something to those of us with brand loyalty. I think it's a vehicle that needs to be experienced to appreciate. Jeep and Chrysler Holland, MI dealers will certainly help customers to just that. Some of the trims on this model, like the options on the Limited and Overland editions, are unbelievable. All the technology and power tools one could hope for and the sleek look and safety features thrown in.

I wish I'd had one with me on my recent trip to Wyoming and Montana. Maybe I'll have to go back and try a few of the dirt roads and rocky inclines in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Had I known the new model would be so appealing and would be released in June, I might have postponed my vacation by a few weeks. Timing is everything, isn't it?
