What that is known is often a CNC?
CNC means "Computer Numeric Control" and that is what sort of computer talks to a milling machine to manage its movements to carve the part you design. The language it uses is called "G-code", the group of instructions that, combined with X, Y and Z coordinates denotes direction, speeds and key points with the shape to be cut. Previously, for example, the most skilled machinist would have trouble cutting a circle because both X and Y hand wheels will have to be cranked at the same time at constantly varying rates as well. The pc, however, doesn't have a trouble carrying this out, and a complicated shape could be cut just like easily like a straight line. The main advantage of CNC beyond cutting difficult 3D shapes is once the program is written and also the holding fixtures made, multiple identical parts can be created rapidly.

I can't cut a straight line and I enjoy do home projects. Easily had an affordable tool the could trim, cut circles, triangles, balls, a straight line.... that would be so cool!
One day I was requested to build a CNC for a company. They wanted economical strategy to cutting aircraft panels (I could also apply it my airplane). So while sipping some beers, I did so some study and created the designs for our first CNC. It's ugly, over built and too heavy for fast cuts but, for the first try it can be sweet. The cutting table is 44" x 36" x 4".
After we completed the initial CNC we desired to share what we should learned web-sites. And build an inexpensive solution for that typical household or small commercial business. We are currently completing our 3rd version and it will likely be a "Man Cave Dream"!
