Anabolic Cooking
Often when going on a work out routine, many people face challenges and plataeus when it comes to gaining muscle. The key component of building mass starts in the kitchen. Eating the correct foods to place your body in an anabolic state is crucial to building mass. But what are the correct foods to eat?
The first thing to consider when beginning a bulking routine is the amount of protein you consume. A good amount of protein a day is approximately 1 to 1.5 times you body weight in pounds. A 200 pound man would want to consume 200 to 300 grams of protein per day, usually closer to 300 when bulking. Protein is not the only thing you want to eat however.
As opposed to common belief, carbohydrates are one of the most important things to consume when toning or bulking up. When toning, one would need to consume around .5 grams per pound of body weight, and when bulking, 1.5 to 2 grams per pound of body weight per day. When bulking, a 200 pound man would want to consume 300 to 400 carbohydrates daily. But you can't just eat any carbs, they have to be healthy carbs, not greasy fast food.
The thing you don't want to eat when toning or bulking, or really ever, is fat. Fat is essential to the human body, but too much fat is a very bad thing. The average person, when on a routine, should consume around 20 grams of fat per day. You should never cut fat completely out, which would be incredibly hard to do, but you should limit the amount of fat consumed no matter what routine you are on.
