No one like acne. No one wants to have a face or body covered in pimples. The problem is not everyone has the money to spend on expensive skin care products and regimens. What most people don't know is that they don't have to spend a lot of money to treat and prevent acne. There are several natural ways to prevent acne that don't cost an arm and a leg, and don't involve using potentially harmful chemicals.
1. Adjust your diet - There are several things you can adjust in your diet which will have a major impact on your skin. Reducing the amount of oily and fried food will reduce the amount of oil on your skin. Drink lots of fluids to increase the hydration of your skin. Eating more carrots will increase your vitamin A which strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and reduces sebum production. Increase your zinc intake. Zinc is an antibacterial agent and is also a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne breakouts. Foods rich in zinc include: beef, pork, lamb, peanuts, peanut better, and legumes.
2. Wash Your Face - Washing your face twice daily with a natural soap that contains tea tree oil is of great benefit to your skin. Do not scrub your face or use a rough cloth as this will actually stimulate the sebaceous glands to create more oil making the problem worse.
3. Use an Oatmeal/Honey mask - Twice a week prepare one serving of oatmeal as you would for eating. Add 1/4 cup honey and mix well. Allow to cool. Apply to face avoiding eye area. Leave on for 10 -20 minutes and wash off with warm water. Do not leave on longer than 20 minutes, as you will find it very difficult to remove if you do. The oatmeal cleanses pores by absorbing oils and exfoliating skin. Honey helps with application and tones skin.
4. Don't Pick - As tempting as it might be, do not scratch or pick at pimples or whiteheads. Doing this actually increases the production of sebum (which is the oil produced by the skin). On top of that, when you squeeze, you are rupturing the membranes below the skin which allows bacteria and sebum to spread underneath you skin causing more pimples.
5. Wash your Pillow Case - When you put your head on your pillow at night, the oils that build up on your face at night are absorbed by your pillow case. Every night after that, when you lay your head back down on that pillow case, the oils and dirt that have been absorbed by that pillow case are transferred back to the face that you just cleaned. This of course can increase acne. Washing your pillow case every other day helps to significantly reduce the amount of oils and dirt that are transferred to your skin while you slumber.
These things are not complicated. They do not take huge amounts of time, or a complicated process to be successful. Using these simple natural ways to help prevent and control acne will not only leave you looking great and feeling confident but won't break the bank in the process.
